2020 Club Champions
Congratulations to our 2020 Club Champions!
The 2020 Moto Trials West Uhuru Trial, Ioco, BC, Oct. 18/20
Thirty one riders participated under cloudy skies but no rain. Second loop scores got worse for a number of riders as the wet ground got a little sloppy in places. Stan Bakgaard was a notable exception though as he did vastly better. The Int/Jr scores looked really good as Brian tried to lay it out easy to get people back into riding in this interesting year. Alex Walton hardly put a foot down to handily win Expert and Carl Muller had an awesome 2 point final loop to lead Advanced. Cam Collie and Guy Smeeth took the Senior classes and Starla Smeeth had 3 consistent loops to win Int. Bob Clark completely forgot to put a foot down all day in Sportsman and Matthew Glade showed up after many years away to win Junior. Congrats to our one Beginner Elton Puglisi for finishing his first trial. Our thanks to Moto Trials West for sponsoring this great event .Don Doerksen
The Honda Centre Fall Classic Trial, Ioco, BC, Oct. 4/20
Near perfect fall weather greeted participants in the Fall Classic trial at Ioco, B.C. on Oct. 4/ 20. A thin cloud cover but no rain meant the traction was as good as it gets. There were 10 sections ranging in difficulty from “I can do that” to ” Darn that didn’t go very well”. Those on classic bikes rode non-stop rules which is always an interesting one to call and made for some quick 5’s.
The Iron Mountain Trial, Mission, B.C. Sept. 20/20.
It was only the 2nd trial of the year for the CPTA and it was supposed to be a little easier. I guess some of us were rustier than we thought as the scores mounted up. At least you could not blame the rain for the rust as it did not rain for the first time in 3 years at this trial.
Until further notice please do your part to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus:
TRS Moto Canada Trial, March 15, 2020, Ioco, BC
The weather could not have been any better for the TRS trial at Ioco on March 15. Forty riders showed up to cool and sunny conditions that were great. There was a bit of ice hiding in the shade but traction was very good. Bernard maybe had the crash of the day when he found some ice on a rock face, got to spinning and then got back on the rock. This was on the loop, not a section, but he launched the bike off into the bushes.
Round 1, Small Wheel Series, March 8, 2020, Ioco, BC
The Small Wheel Trials Series kicked off on a beautiful spring day at Ioco. Organizer Pierce McNeal, who proposed reinstating a Small Wheel Series to the club last year, did a wonderful job of setting up a course with some fairly easy sections and some that presented a few challenges. Most sections had both an A and B line providing for riders of all skill levels. Rob Shantz, provided amazing, custom aluminum wall plaques for all finishers.
Event morning arrived and so did 17 kids along with parents and grandparents. It was great to see such a solid turnout and it speaks positively to the future of our sport. Ian Carlson put on his chef’s hat and served up hotdogs to everyone attending.
Thanks to Pierce McNeal for his vision and hard work putting on this series and to all those that stepped up to help make it a success and a special thanks to all the kids and families who participated.

Beta Trial, February 9, 2020, Ioco, BC
A crisp, clear day was the setting for the Beta Canada trial on Feb. 9/20 at Ioco, B.C. The cool but dry weather made for a very enjoyable day after a week of rain. Thirty seven riders came out of winter hibernation to ride 3 short loops of 10 sections. The McDowall family put on the Advanced/Expert and Bob Clark led a committee to do the Junior/Intermediate sections.
